Welcome

The ancient church of St Mary the virgin, with its unique truncated Spire, has been a landmark for nearly 800 years. The church is usually kept open from 9:30 am till 4.00 pm most weekday mornings(except bank holidays) and seeks to be a place of prayer, worship and welcome for the community of Yatton. The church has strong and growing links with Yatton Schools and because of its size is able to accommodate school services. It is also used an an educational resource for both schools in the Team.

Attendance at the Sunday morning parish communion is about 70. The worship at this service is traditional with a strong musical tradition and choir. There is also a small Sunday School. The recently appointed Director of Music has initiated a community choir for young people and on various occasions throughout the year there are also activities and worship specifically with children and young people in mind. Many of these activities are done jointly with Yatton Methodist Church.

Morning Prayer is usually said on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8:30 am. for about half an hour. Other services: as advertised.

Adjoining the church is the Chapter House, built in the 1970's, in which St Mary's Pre- School meet during term-time mornings. On other occasions it is used by church groups , including the ‘Transformers’ youth group, and for other community groups/activities. The monthly Saturday coffee morning run by members of the congregation is a significant point of contact with the local community as is a new venture of afternoon teas monthly on a Tuesday afternoon.
